Minty is an award winning professional felt artist based in Carmarthenshire.
She graduated in 1995 with a B.A. (Hons) in Art & Design from Wolverhampton University. Since then she worked as a graphic artist in London’s West End and then became a self employed creative, discovering the delights of feltmaking in 2012.
Minty’s work is shaped by a lifelong fascination with woodland folklore, childhood illustration, and the quiet magic of the natural world. Drawing inspiration from the illustrated stories she grew up with — from Brambly Hedge and The Little Grey Rabbit to the mythic atmospheres of artists such as Arthur Rackham, John Bauer, and Molly Brett — her art exists in a space where memory, imagination, and nature gently intertwine.
Using Natural fibres to tell stories about Nature.
Working primarily with wet felting, Minty creates tactile, painterly scenes that feel both ancient and intimate. Her pieces often feature woodland creatures, hidden dwellings, and overgrown edges — moments that suggest a story unfolding just out of sight. She is drawn to liminal spaces: hedgerows at dusk, forest floors alive with fungi, the quiet breath of the land between seasons.
Her practice is rooted in slowness and care, embracing traditional craft and natural materials to build layered, textural worlds. Each artwork is approached as a form of storytelling, where fibres replace brushstrokes and every detail carries intention and feeling.
Through her work, Minty hopes to evoke a sense of nostalgia, comfort, and quiet enchantment — an invitation to pause, remember, and step briefly into a softer, wilder place.
Minty’s work is held in private collections across South Wales.
